Gavin Smith Named World Poker Tour Player of the Year
Professional poker player Gavin Smith capped his strong year of play in Season IV of the World Poker Tour by being named the tour's "Season IV Player of the Year." Over the past year, Smith reached the final table in three separate $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour events, including a first-place finish at the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown. "Getting to a WPT final table is an accomplishment achieved by many," said Full Tilt Poker representative and professional poker player Howard Lederer, "but making three final tables in one season, including a win, shows that Gavin is among poker's elite competitors."
Smith is the third Full Tilt Poker representative to earn the WPT Player of the Year honor, following in the tradition set by Team Full Tilt members Howard Lederer in Season One, and Erick Lindgren in Season Two.
Smith is a representative of www.FullTiltPoker.com, and spends several hours a week online helping amateur players learn the game by sharing his poker knowledge through real-time chats at the virtual tables.
