As reported by the Post-Standard: " .While the harness track's new owners await permission from the state to open, they're spending $4 million to renovate restaurants, the grandstand, parking lots, barns and a never-used casino. "No opening date has been set for the track or the casino, but American Racing officials are optimistic the track will open this summer. .. "Work crews from VIP Structures in Syracuse are focused on adding a buffet area to the casino and renovating the Miracle Mile restaurant in the grandstand. Both areas will feature betting and nightly entertainment. The casino will have about 900 machines.

"The work is the first phase in a five-year plan that will completely renovate and link the hotel, casino and grandstand.The entire complex will carry a Vernon Downs-history theme. Gone will be the Polynesian theme previous owners chose for the casino."
