Casino Gambling
Gov. Eliot Spitzer's proposal to expand gambling in New York faces long odds with the state Legislature, including from members of Spitzer's own party.
Casino and horse interests financed two-thirds of a $3 million ad campaign last fall attacking the ethics of Republican Ernie Fletcher, who lost to Democrat Steve Beshear in the governor's race. Beshear made the legalization of casino gambling the key issue in his campaign.
